When God created the heavens and the earth, “He saw all that He had made, and it was very good” (Gen. 1:31). He created man “in His own image”. When sin entered the world in the heart of man, it separates him from a holy God. Since then, the world has increasingly become chaotic with unsolvable problems growing everyday – murder, wars, political unrests, famine, diseases, and more recently, terrorism, environmental pollution, global warming and natural disasters abound. There does not seem to be any hope in such a terrible worldwide situation. People seem unable to see any signs of righteousness and grace of a loving creator God or His plan of salvation to redeem mankind.
However, God has a desire to save every living person on this planet. He created them, loves them and wants to save them. For His salvation there is a personal choice needed from each of us. Romans 5:8 states that: “But God demonstrates His own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us”. Jesus is the focus to the plan and He is the only “Way” to the Father. His death on the cross is the culmination of God’s plan that at once conquered the two greatest enemies plaguing mankind – sin and death. The Gospel of Jesus is our only hope.
Christians should be aware of God’s plan. What can we do to walk the extra mile with God while we’re in this world? Christians should not complacently stop at awareness by simply implying that the death and resurrection of Jesus will suffice to clear the mess in the world. We must impress upon our hearts to let people know of this reality for their personal salvation. We must certainly do the following:
- Be firm in our Christian faith, knowing that suffering for the faith come to Christians all over in the world.
- Resist the temptation of the devil and be aware that we are fighting a spiritual battle.
- Be pro-active in spreading the “Good News” of Jesus knowing that our testimonies are powerful tools.
- Love and encourage one another to build up Jesus’ Church in the family of God.
- Strive to be Christ-like by living out the teachings of the Bible daily in our lives.
Besides bringing glory to God by doing these things, the end reward of the joy of eternal life makes the effort and suffering well worth it.
