Taking quizzes and tests to see what your personality is like or even how well the fit is between employer and potential employee is now familiar to us. Many firms are even coming up with “talent assessment” tools to determine if the candidates are a good fit or of a certain caliber before progressing on to another round of interview. However, are all these tests really accurate in determining who you really are? With some imagination, it is easy to give the assessors the expected answer to get the desired response.
Nevertheless, there is one test where the results will never lie. It is the best test you can take to reveal who you really are or are not. It penetrates your moral and spiritual lives. It spares no words at times but also heaps on the encouragement when needed. It helps you discern what is right and wrong, forming the moral barometer of those being tested. The test is living, life changing and expects a response from those being tested. This test can be found in the Bible, the Word of God. You must not only read and hear the Bible; you must obey it and let it change your lives.
Heb 4:13 – “Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account” – is an example of how the Bible can pierce through who you really are. Knowing that nothing on earth can ever be hidden from God and the fact that you have to be accountable for your actions can swing both ways. It can serve as an encouragement, where you know that God is Sovereign and knows everything that happens to you, the frustrations, the bullyings, the fears; God sees it all and we can claim upon His promises that He is there for us. On the other hand, it may also serve as a warning to those who are doing things that they thought nobody knew but God knows. But of course, nothing can be hidden from the Almighty God. At this point, Heb. 4:13 can help to awaken your senses and hopefully trigger an appropriate response from you.
The Bible as God’s Word is indeed living and life-changing. But only if you listen, obey and follow the teachings. Remember that you have to make every effort to enter God’s rest. He, the Almighty God, demands your decision and commitment.
