For the past Sundays in 2006 we covered many aspects of God’s Word as we “Call on the Lord”. Here is a brief review of what we studied to jog your memories.
- From the Prophet Jeremiah we learnt about :
- “Reverence to God”,
- “Relationship to God and His people”,
- “Responding to God’s Word” and
- “Family Witness”.
- Some characters who called on God were considered:
- Jabez,
- 2 blind men in the Gospel,
- Moses and
- Apostle Paul.
We can learn from them as we follow Jesus Christ.
- As worshipping Christians and a worshipping community, we heard messages on the various aspects of “Worship”. Let us build up our lives of worship to God.
- The great themes of God’s Salvation to us were covered:
- Calling
- Regeneration
- Faith & Repentance
- Justification
- Sanctification
- Perseverance
- Glorification.
- “Seeking and Pleasing God” required the Wisdom that comes from God. May we apply God’s wisdom in our daily living as we walk with God.
- Many questions confront us in the Christian life. Some of them like :
- “Are there different way to get to heaven?”,
- “Why do bad things happen to good people?” and
- “The Bible – God’s word or cleverly invented stories?”
were looked at for possible Biblical answers. There will continue to be many such questions and we will try to seek answers from the Bible and not simply sweep them under the carpet.
- The prophet Jonah was one who called out in desperation to God from the belly of a big fish and was an interesting study. We all can learn from Jonah – all the time.
- During August we had “Missions At Our Doorstep” which proved challenging. We saw the needs of the foreign nationals among us. Pray that we respond to these needs.
- We used the Book of Hebrews to consider “The Marvellous Works Of Jesus”. He is our Great High Priest and is now at God’s right hand interceding for us before the Throne of God. Always look to Jesus who is the same – yesterday, today and forever.
- The “Beatitudes” in Matthew 5 were eye opening topics. We are to demonstrate these Christian characteristics in our lives and can “Call on the Lord” to help us.
- 2006 ended with us looking forward to the “Revelation Of Jesus Christ”. He came for us on that first Christmas and will come again. We simply need to “Be Prepared”.
God has been very good to us as we “Call on the Lord” in 2006. We look forward to 2007 for more teachings from the Bible by God anointed teachers who desire to share from their lives the full counsel of the Word of God to us. Let us learn and apply the teachings in our daily lives so that we can mature in our walk with the Lord.
