Spiritual Power and Wisdom

God’s power is awesome and immeasurable. It is evident in creation and the numerous miracles He performed in history. It culminated in the resurrection of Jesus and His exaltation and enthronement to the right hand of God. He conquered death; something that mortal man could not do. Jesus said: “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible” (Matt. 19:26). He is “all-wise” too, considering His perfect plan of salvation of mankind in Jesus. He overcame evil and immorality that has been plaguing mankind due to their sinful nature. Surely the perception of a perfect God
must be “all-powerful and all-wise” as He first designed and predestined Christians at the very beginning for an inheritance of eternity with Him.

The Apostle Paul prayed for the Christians in the church that God the Father will give them “the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better” (Eph. 1:17). He is aware that there is a boundless source of power and wisdom available to all Christians. He tells them that God will continue to work in all Christians until the second coming of Jesus. The Holy Spirit will enable them to live holy and blameless lives in the midst of a sinful world and open their eyes to the fullness of God’s blessings.

For today, God will never ask us to do anything He has not already given us the means to do. We need His power to change and act, but He needs our cooperation. This enabling and liberating power of God is available to encourage us to live more faithfully and joyfully in Jesus. It is a challenge especially for Christians to see God’s perspective for the possibilities in their lives to be effective witnesses for Jesus. An enlightened perspective is important because it opens people’s hearts to the presence of God and the availability of His help during troubled times. Christians need to pray that God might open the eyes of our hearts to see and cooperate with the power of God – a power that is beyond comparison. This can only happen if we gain spiritual wisdom from God’s point of view. How thankful we should be for God’s power working in us – to strengthen our faith and to give us confidence in the future. We must always be ready to hear what God has to say and to obey and act accordingly.
