The Holy Spirit In You

God’s plan is always meticulous, perfect and complete. Furthermore, it is also mysterious and incomprehensible to human minds. In Jesus, we were predestined before the creation of the world according to His plan who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of His will (ref. Eph. 1:11). The Holy Spirit is a seal and deposit guaranteeing our inheritance “in Christ”. The gift of the Holy Spirit is the beginning of our salvation, which is the Christian’s inheritance. The moment we believe in Jesus Christ, God sends the Holy Spirit to indwell us. His presence in us confirms our status as the children of God. Since He seals us always, we have to be mindful of how we live our lives in the daily things we say and do.

Our transformation will be evidenced in our lifestyle and attitudes by the unconscious display of the gifts of the Holy Spirit in us. It is also the power that God uses for Christians to do supernatural and impossible things that make others fear, realise, hear, obey and cherish the blessings that God has so graciously given to them. These are the impacts and effects of the Holy Spirit in our daily lives. God has been pouring out His Spirit upon all those who will open up their hearts to develop a meaningful relationship with Him. He will guide and help us to be more Christ-like and will empower us to be more effective witnesses for Jesus. Furthermore, Jesus understands the hardship and problems that all believers will face. While He was in this world physically, His ministry was limited to His being present at one place and time only. That is why He gave His disciples this promise before He left them: “And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Counselor to be with you forever.” (Jn. 14:16). Jesus kept this promise when the Holy Spirit was sent on Pentecost Day on the believers of the early Church.

The Holy Spirit is a Person, part of the Godhead Trinity. His power and omnipresence is in all ways, like God. Are we ready to surrender totally to God and be filled with the Holy Spirit to be more powerful witnesses for Christ (ref. Acts 1:8). We can start by living our lives pleasing to God with the infilling of His Holy Spirit daily in us.
